The issue of girls’ education is unique:  a striking body of evidence demonstrates that investing in girls delivers high returns, not only for female educational attainment but also across a broad range of areas from children’s health and disease prevention, to women’s health, to more sustainable families, to women’s empowerment, to democracy, to poverty reduction and income growth and productivity, to social stability and economic growth and will make a critical difference to their long-term success.

Sponsor a child in Kenya, Africa through primary education.

Sponsor a child in Kenya, Africa through primary education.
Children are selected on a needs basis.
These children would not go to school without this sponsorship.

The cost is around GB£17 per child per month to support the girl child.

By sponsoring a girl at The Kenya Kesho School for Girls, you can help us ensure that your student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. It is a great way to see your impact while following one of our students.

This covers:
• the normal teachers’ salaries and other school running costs.
• books, art equipment, computers and teaching materials.
• a morning milky tea and mandazi (triangular doughnut) and a mid morning cup of wimbi (millet meal) for each child and school worker.
…For many of the poorer children, this is the only solid food they will receive during the day.
• Free primary health care at the school.

You are welcome to support 1 child (£17 per month) or more children.
We also ask the child’s family to pay £2 per month to the school so they can own – in kind – their education.
We allocate 1 or more children to each supporter. The children make regular contact by writing or school work or drawing pictures.

How is the money used?
100% is used to support the children by paying teachers’ salaries and the running costs of the school.
Some sponsors are eligible for gift aid and any surplus received from this is used for providing uniforms for the poorest children and improving the school to provide a better education for all.

New sponsors required
Each January, 30 new children start at the school. These children would not attend school without your sponsorship. Sponsoring a Kenyan child really does make a difference to their lives.
